dr. ir. Johan B. C. Engelen
Johan Engelen has been one of the main contributors to Inkscape since 2006, and also contributed to its geometry library 2Geom. He has served on the Inkscape Board from late 2012 to early 2015. Since 2015, he switched from Inkscape development to contributing to the LDC project, part of the D language community. He is doing freelance D compiler consulting for Weka.io since 2016.
Johan has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Twente in the Netherlands (2011). His PhD topic was microelectromechanical actuators (the inverse of the accelerometer in your mobile device) for probe-based data storage. You can also make music with them. He worked on the physical aspects of magnetic tape recording at IBM Research - Zurich from 2011 to 2015. In 2017, he joined the Robotics and Mechatronics group at the University of Twente, where he is currently assistant professor of Inspection Robotics.
